GG ALLIN

"Live fast, die fast, dangerous rock 'n' roll."

The Timeline of Chaos

August 29, 1956
Born "Jesus Christ Allin" in Lancaster, New Hampshire. Raised in a rural cabin by an abusive, fanatical father. His brother Merle Jr. couldn't pronounce Jesus, giving him the nickname "GG".

1977 – 1984
Starts fronting The Jabbers, playing raw, melodic power-pop influenced punk rock. Releases his debut album.

Late 1980s
Shifts into extreme shock-rock behavior. His live performances become infamous for severe self-mutilation, violence, and dynamic crowd confrontations.

1989 – 1993
Spends significant time in prison for felony assault. Appears on mainstream daytime television talk shows like Geraldo and Jerry Springer while briefly sober.

June 27 – 28, 1993
Plays his final, chaotic show at The Gas Station in NYC. Passes away from an accidental heroin overdose the following morning at age 36.

Infamous Live Shows & Gig History

1980 – Cantones (Boston, MA)
Early era shows performing melodic punk with The Jabbers. Fast-paced, high energy, but before the extreme shock antics began.
July 31, 1985 – Creve Coeur VFW Hall (Peoria, IL)
Widely cited as the first show where his extreme, modern "shock-rock" performance methods completely manifested, changing his live dynamic forever. Performed with Bloody Mess.
May 5, 1989 – Primal Plunge Bookstore (Boston, MA)
Spoken word and reading performance. He talked about his suicide plans for Halloween and assaults his audience.
August 28, 1991 – The Fast Lane Club (Asbury Park, NJ)
GG Allin and the Murder Junkies played here after an interview with GG, recorded by Pete D. VHS versions of this show and interview exists and have been archived.
February 13, 1992 – The Wall (Dalton, GA)
Show in which someone alerted the police beforehand and resulted in GG and Dino Sex being arrested for indecent exposure the day before The Wreck Room performamce. GG Allin was bailed out in time, Dino was not. Freddi Griffin of The Southern Baptists subsituted for the drums. The Wreck Room performance was recorded and mass produced, but to my knowledge The Wall show was not. See full story and information about The Southern Baptists here
November 18, 1991 – Club Space Fish (Orlando, FL)
An infamous concert with The Murder Junkies that ended in a massive venue riot and resulted in another local police arrest warrant. Both GG Allin and Dino Sex was arrested for indecent exposure.
June 27, 1993 – The Gas Station (New York City, NY)
The final performance. After the power was cut a few songs into the set, he led a massive crowd of punks on a walking riot through Manhattan's East Village just hours before his death.
